I have just finished six weeks of radiation treatment, five days a week. Among other things it damaged (temporarily) my sense of taste, making it difficult to eat; I now weigh 128 pounds. Compensation: it is now much easier to do my horizontal balance and I can do more pushups.
I’m sorry to hear about the radiation. At least the treatment phase appears to be over. I’m a big believer in juicing. Celery, cucumber, parsley, spinach, kale, all good stuff — flooding your body with healing phytochemicals. Brown Cow plain yogurt or probiotics. Etc. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. We’re all rooting for you!
I used to tell the radiation technicians that they should describe themselves as “photon massage therapists”: less scary, more new agey.
That’s cute. I like that. Radiation is a scary word. But “photon massage therapy” sounds like fun! And about the juicing, keep in mind a little goes a long way. Even just a couple times a week I think would be very beneficial. And if you add a slice of lemon, that’ll act as a preservative if you squirrel some away in the fridge for later.
Actually at present I can’t eat solid food so the blender is frequently employed. I make an excellent vichyssoise soup.
I’m sorry to hear this, Colin. You have provided such steady illumination on so many tronts, and done so with wit and literary grace. Your work was invaluable when I was attempting to write about various theories of human consciousness. I hope juice and your new tennis stroke restore you to full health soon.
I like “steady illumination” and I’m glad you found my efforts helpful.
