One response to “Alice and Colin”

There is the obvious matter of not having any students to worry about, no classes to give, no letters of recommendation to write, no faculty meetings to attend, and so on. But what makes it really odd is having no university affiliation–which I had had for forty years previously. When I write things I have no institution to acknowledge, no place where I am, no affiliation. It isn’t that this is unpleasant; it just feels very strange. It feels like some sort of weird mistake.
